Bentota Activities

Bentota beach is perfect for somebody swimming watersports and especially for surfing.

On the southern corner of the beach by the Taj Hotel, there is a small rocky headland which provides a sheltered surfing nursery area.

The local instructors were only helpful, very friendly. They can.I’d like through the best lessons. The best boards and the best time to do your surf lesson.

There are many places for swimming depending on the wind conditions. Case should be taken October in the winter months. It’s perfect for swimming, relaxing and enjoying the seat bath.

Bentota Beach – Sri Lanka is located midway between the Galle Dutch Fort city to the south and Colombo the business capital towards the north.

The beautiful sandy beach stretches give kilometres from the river mouth, passing southwards next to the historic Bentota Beach Hotel and Bridge, to the  southern end of the beach at Jetwing Hotel. Midway along the beach is the luxury Bentota Taj Hotel.

Bentota has a huge river with stunning beaches either side of the river mouth.

The river hosts many watersports centres along the wide 2km stretch to the bridges that take the road and railways traffic to “Down South” Sri Lanka.

Up stream from the bridges the river affords great watersports areas until it gradually narrows to become an inland waterway.to the river source some 40 km inland.

Bentota and the neighbouring new town of “Aluthgama” offer many opportunities for local and international guests. Good shopping and a wide selection  restaurants and hotels, both riverside and beach side.

Situated on the river there are many splendid watersports centres where you can avail yourself of a plethora of water activities.

Watersports on the Bentota River are available pretty much all year round with a couple of “rainy” months marking the “season change” between summer and winter.

There is a road bridge and a railway bridge 2kn inland of the river mouth. These bridges join the western province and the southern province of Sri Lanka. Locals will tell you that once you leave Colombo and pass over the Bentota Bridge you are entering “Down South” Sri Lanka.
